Your Wedding Cake

Your Wedding Cake can be as individual as you are on your wedding day.  The wedding cake is traditionally a fruit cake with a thick layer of marzipan icing with the bride and groom perched happily on the top.  Nowadays the wedding cake can bring in the theme of your wedding, if you are getting married in the beautiful countryside you could have a romantic country wedding cake with various scented fresh roses placed in the rich, home made butter cream icing. You may want to have a summer themed wedding on the beach, for this you could have a beautifully decorated ice cream cake to fit in perfectly with your theme.

Your wedding cake can be your very favourite flavoured cake or even a combination of your favourite desserts, such as a tower of chocolate éclairs filled with fluffy white cream topped with rich brown chocolate drizzled over the top.  There are endless amounts of shapes to choose from.  From towers of meringues dotted with chocolate covered strawberries (a personal favourite) to three tiered cakes of which each cake is a different flavour, a chocolate one on the bottom, a vanilla flavoured cake with fudge icing in the middle and a black forest cake with a garnish of a pile of fresh cherries on the very top… you can be sure there will be a flavour that each of your guests will love!

If you are on a tight budget for your wedding you may find that your baking skills will be able to produce a masterpiece.  You can make your very own wedding cake and it will be exactly how you like it.  There is also the option of getting your family involved in your wedding plans…you may have an aunt who is a whiz at baking the most delicious cakes…this can be a great way of easing your budget and allowing your family to feel a part of your very special wedding day.

Whatever wedding cake you choose, makes sure it’s something you and your groom will enjoy as it’s your wedding day and every aspect of the day should be as individual and unique as you are!  Your wedding cake will be something you can delight in as it’s shown off for your guests to look at; as you do the cutting of the cake (and maybe even some sharing between the bride and groom in a very orderly way…no stuffing in the faces) and finally, as you and your guests enjoy the cake as part of your dessert or even after the ceremony as part of the snacks before your reception.  Your wedding cake will be a delicious and beautiful aspect of your wedding day.
